The Montana work ethic is continually a topic of discussion. Representing TechRanch as the only native Montanan, I am pleasantly struck by these comments. I have heard this stated a number of times during my TechRanch career. Having come from a cattle ranch, I know what it's like to fix the bale wagon without being a licensed mechanic or to feed cattle in subzero temperatures. Things just have to get done with no time to wait for a better time. I see this work ethic as a key differentiator for our clients and the Montana community. For example, Greg Gianforte, serial entrepreneur and Founder of RightNow Technologies (NASDAQ: RNOW), has taken this work ethic and built an extremely successful software company in Bozeman, Montana. Gianforte credited the Montana work ethic at the 2007 Montana Economic Development Summit by saying; "The work ethic and the 'caliber of people' here make it ripe for business and with the world quickly getting smaller, Montana could be home to world-class businesses." People want to live in Montana because of its beauty and recreation among other amenities offered. The strong Montana work ethic is a personal resource that is vital to grow a successful business.
